erica-campbell-and-warryn-campbellMary Mary’s Erica Campbell and her husband Warryn Campbell III have decided to become church leaders after hosting Bible studies in hotel rooms.

"Warryn is real serious about ministry and wants to make sure that, above all, it is God-centered," Erica Campbell revealed on The Yolanda Adams Morning Show.

"We kind of take the approach of [reaching out to] the broken, wounded people who have kind of been jaded by church and don't want to go no more."

Campbell, who stars with her sister Tina on the hit WE tv show "Mary Mary" says her family was called to ministry when she was young.

"Even with my parents we were always out front for something. We had to know and hear and understand at a young age."

"I'm so grateful for the believers who support and listen but I'm so excited for the people who are learning about Jesus through my music," Erica said. "Wanting to know who he is because of my music. That is just such a huge blessing. I am really hoping it reaches the unchurched people.

Love, Peace & Happiness Church Host Annual Conference

The Annual Living Word Conference, which is set to begin at the Love, Peace and Happiess Church on June 2nd and go through June 8th, announced Dr. Richard Sanders, of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, as a keynote speaker. The actual event, whose theme is slated to be “Releasing the Power Within to Win,” will be hosted by Bishop Leon and Dr. Jacqueline Martin of the Love Peace and Happiness Christian Fellowship Church.

The theme, Bishop Martin says, is not just about internal power, but how that power comes from our relationship with God.

“That is the power that is within us,” Bishop Martin says, “and that’s the power of the Holy Spirit, and it calls us to become winners if we learn how to yield to the spirit of god.”

Guest speakers include Dr. Fred Hodge of Living Praise Christian Center (Chatsworth), Pastor Donald Martin of Fresh Anointing Christian Fellowship (Claremont) and Dr. Arthur Wooten of Friendship Christian Fellowship Church of God in Christ in Riverside. Gospel singer Shervonne Wells, most well known as one of the Kurt Carr Singers, will perform.

“We invite the community to join us for six great days of spiritual refreshing,” said Martin.

In other local church news, Tisa Hill, First Lady of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and the San Fernando-based, Spirit of Zion has released her first book. The book, titled “Me And My Daddy’s Diary”, is a story of her Dad’s addiction and subsequent deliverance.

“It started off as an assignment my father had to do for a drug counseling class he was taking and he gave me a copy to read. I shared it with a lifestyle recovery program. I was teaching on delivery and one of my co-teachers that we get together and write a book.
He tells how he got on drugs and I tell how that affected me. We both share our experiences and how our relationship and how we are now repairing it.”
