Jack Lightsy Productions presents “Who’s Playin’ Who?”
Opening July 11th at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre, Jack Lightsy’s evocative musical “Who’s Playin’ Who?” hits the L.A. theatre scene with a sparkling cast and a fun, riveting story that explores the romance between a good girl and a hustler.
“I was trying to bring the reality of relationships, the dating process, to the stage,” Jack Lightsy, director and writer, says. “What draws a man to a woman? What brings men and women together?”
The musical, featuring original songs also written by Lightsy, follows a local “good girl” and a hustler bent on winning a bet, and features two rising stars as the main leads. Shanice Wilson, a Grammy nominated singer and the vocalist behind the chart-topping hit “When I Close My Eyes,” plays the female lead, and The Voice finalist, Jesse Campbell, will play the hustler.
“Both of them are singers first and actors second, so to do stage, you get true actors as opposed to TV and film where you can cut. They’re both very talented entertainers as a whole.”
Lightsy has enjoyed working with the cast. “The two comedic actors in this is Kente Scott and Sonya Shepherd. They are phenomenally funny.”
Lightsy, a former actor (48 Hrs, Knots Landing) turned writer/director, founded his own production company Jack Lightsy Productions, and has since written and put on critically acclaimed stage plays, from “Soul’d Out to God, I Thought You Knew Me.”
Tickets for “Who’s Playin’ Who?” can be purchased at JackLightsyProductions.com and the Wilshire Ebell Box Office.
“How we walk—can change lives,” Lightsy says. “It certainly has a spiritual base to it.”
