Wayne Brady Set To Star In “Kiss Me Kate”

“Let’s Make A Deal” host Wayne Brady will star as Fred/Petruchio in the musical comedy masterpiece “Kiss Me, Kate.” Brady, a multi-Emmy Award winning and Grammy nominated comedian, actor and singer will star opposite Merle Dandridge and head a cast of 17 in the Shakespeare inspired revival. Sheldon Epps will direct the 2014–2015 season opener, which will run from September 16 through October 12, 2014 at the Pasadena Playhouse.

"It is said that a huge percentage of a director's work is done in the casting process (and I believe that to be true). By this maxim, I know that the cast that we have blessedly brought together for this wonderful show will make my job a joy, and bring genuine electricity to our stage,” said Sheldon Epps who’s directorial credits include “Girlfriends,” “Reed Between the Lines” and “Frasier.”

“It has long been my hope to work with Wayne, and he is perfectly suited to this role.”

Featuring some of musical theatre’s most famous songs, including: “So in Love,” “Too Darn Hot,” and “Brush Up Your Shakespeare,” “Kiss Me Kate” recounts the backstage and onstage antics of two feuding romantic couples during a touring production of “The Taming of the Shrew.

The Pasadena Playhouse is located at 39 S. El Molino Avenue, in Pasadena. Showtimes and tickets can be found at Pasadenaplayhouse.com.
