Wells Fargo Partners With West Angeles COGIC Bishop Charles Blake, pastor of West Angeles Church of God in Christ (COGIC) and Presiding Bishop of the 5 the largest denomination in the world, has become the face of a campaign to make significant improvements in the urban Los Angeles community through a recently announced partnership with Wells Fargo. The official launch was marked by a full page ad in the Los Angeles Times last month prominently featuring Bishop Blake, demonstrating Wells Fargo's recognition of Blake and West Angles CDC's commitment to develop and improve their community.

Church News: Francine Brookins Gets Key Endorsement in Bid for Bishop

Last month, delegates of the AME’s 5th Episcopal District voted during it’s Mid Year Convocation to make Francine Brookins, daughter of the late Bishop H.H. Brookins their official candidate in the 2016 national campaign for the Bishopry.

“It’s a great honor for me because it’s all happening here where my Dad was and especially as I’m the only female,” said Brookins, who presently serves as senior pastor of Bethel AME Church of Fontana.

First Ladies Chaney, Drake & Williams Honored at High Tea

First Ladies Myesha Chaney (Antioch Church of Long Beach) Isabelle Drake (Greater Ebenezer Mis-sionary Baptist Church) and Debra Williams (McCoy Memorial Baptist Church) are set to be honored at the 17th Annual First Ladies High Tea on September 13, 2014 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

L.A. Focus Newspaper created the First Ladies High Tea in 1998 to honor the role of women in the community and women (as well as women of faith) with particular respect to the influence and impact they have in their respective communities.

Season 2 of the “Preachers of LA,” docu-series, which broke streaming records as Oxygen’s most-streamed show, premieres August 20th, inviting it’s one million viewers back into the world of six LA pastors: Bishop Noel Jones, Minister Deitrick Haddon, Bishop Clarence McClendon, Pastor Jay Haizlip, Pastor Wayne Chaney and Bishop Ron Gibson.
